Obituary for Delseyna Swain-Anderson

Delseyna Swain-Anderson, 43, a longtime resident of Toledo, Ohio who was most proud of being a devoted wife, mother, Lollie, and aunt passed away on Sunday July 14th, 2019 at the University of Michigan Hospital.

Delseyna was a very outspoken person and affectionately called by her loved ones “DeeDee” and “Mz. Blue”. If you wanted to know her cause of death, she would have told you that it was none of your business. If you asked Yogi, her beloved husband, he would tell you that whatever his wife said is the answer. Although her death was a sudden tragedy, her life and the lives she impacted was not. Delseyna life centered around the well-being of her husband, children, grandchildren, and any person she met. She wanted nothing but the best for everyone.

She was born to John Gulley Sr. and Armentha Harris on February 17th, 1976 in Toledo, Ohio. As a young girl she lived on the south end of Toledo where she attended King Elementary and formulated many of the friendships she maintained throughout her adult life. She was a very intelligent and bright soul that wasted no time in completing her high school education. Delseyna told her friends, “I cannot keep coming to this school every day” So she left school and completed four years of high school in one day by earning her General Education Diploma. After earning her diploma, she wasted no time enrolling in college with her friends. Together they attended the University of Toledo Community College where she met her husband Jaron Swain-Anderson who she affectionately called “Bae”. Their love story is one of a kind and she loved nothing more than to talk about how they met, as well as the joy and love they had for one another. She completed her Associates degree with honors in Accounting at Owens Community College and was employed with United Collections Bureau as an Auditor. As much as she loved working with numbers, she enjoyed learning and exploring different things just as much. Some of her favorite things to do were watch Big Brother, the History Channel and talk Politics/Sports with whoever was willing to listen and learn. No matter the environment or conversation she was able to adapt and add value. She was a walking wealth of knowledge and resources. She instilled the importance of learning in her children, family and friends. She was blessed with the gift of gab and was not afraid to use it. Her wealth and knowledge were impeccable. Her ability to encourage and empower others was immaculate.

She was married to her “Bae” on September 13, 2008 in Toledo, Ohio. They were married for 10 years and together for 23 years. They raised four children and two beautiful grandchildren together. As parents they were proud of their children’s educational and professional accomplishments.

She was preceded in death by her son: JayShaun(Zorovich-Long) Swain-Anderson; Maternal Grandparents Eddie Harris, Geraldine Crosby; brother Darnae Bunnell, Aunt; Kim Hawkins, Cousin; Metria “Pinky” Morgan.
