Obituary for Diane Willis

Diane (Clay) Willis, affectionately known as “Piggy” by her Clay family, was born on April 2, 1951 to the late Edward and Elvesta (Hutch) Clay. Diane peacefully transitioned into eternal life on August 24, 2019 surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home. Diane was raised in church, Phillips Temple CME, alongside her mother, grandmother, and siblings.

Diane attended Whitney High School with dreams of becoming a nurse. Although her dreams of becoming a nurse was not fulfilled, she was a true authentic caregiver. Diane never met a stranger. She loved and welcomed everyone she came in contact with and her doors were always open. Once you met Diane, you became part of her family. Diane’s “job” was raising her children, grandchildren, and everyone else's children. She loved cooking, shopping and cleaning.

Diane was preceded in death by both parents, Edward and Elvesta Clay; paternal and maternal grandparents; husband and best friend, Carl L. Willis; grandson, Keven Johnson; brother, David Clay and sister, Debra Clay.

She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Keven (Mary) Johnson, Keith Johnson, Karl Willis; step-son, Lamount Coates; daughters, Kimberly Johnson, Karen (Jimmie) Jordan, Kevia (James) Townsend, Karla Willis Johnson and Liberty Willis Cunningham; 26 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren plus one on the way; 4 great great grandchildren; brothers, Lee, Dwayne and Donald Clay; sisters, Minister Sharon (Robert) Heard and Evelyn Clay all of Toledo, Ohio and a host of dear family members including nieces, nephews, cousins and very close family friends.
