Obituary for Gerald Calvin Mars
Mr. Gerald Calvin Mars of Milbury, OH was born August 12, 1952 to the union of William and Alma Mars in Toledo, OH. He went home to be with the Lord on Friday Sept. 6th at St. Vincent's Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was employed for 29 years at Baron Drawn Steel Plant in Toledo, OH. He went on to work another 14 plus years at Toledo Refining Company until he fell ill and it was time to take life a little easier.
Gerald had a strong love for family and enjoyed the outdoors. He spent countless summers taking his children to festivals and had a passion for cooking in abundance for family gatherings. He often shared fond memories about his childhood adventures on Deanville with his brothers and visits to Michigan City where he declared "I was always taken care of".
Gerald had an infectious personality and a smile that would light up a room. His sense of humor and generosity was his ministry. To be in his presence was truly a blessing.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, William and Alma Mars; brothers Terrence Mars, Wilbur Mars and William Mars ; sisters Barbara Thomas and Berniece Hopewell.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Grayer, his children Aaron (Satyra) Mars, Dorothy Mars, Maria Mars, Isaiah Mars, and step daughter Ajia Grayer. Brothers, Marvin (Tawonna) Mars, Larry (Linda) Mars, Norman (Barbara) Mars, and Frederick Mars. Sisters, Shirley Kizer and Jacqueline Neal. Life long friends, John Hall and Peter Poll. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and friends.
He will be forever known as Uncle Gerald, Daddy, Dad, Father, Papi, Big Man, Papa G, best friend, lover and child of God. He will be truly missed, but never forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2019, from 7-9:00pm, at The House of Day Funeral Service.
