Obituary

Mr. James Traylor was born June 4, 1927, in Tupelo, Mississippi. He took his final journey on August 7, 2019, to be with life partner of 67 years, Alberta Traylor.

James moved to the Toledo area at the age of seventeen. As a teenager, he professed hope in Christ and became a member of Mount Pilgrim Church. James united in holy matrimony on June 15, 1952, to Alberta Traylor. From this union four daughters were born: Joyce, Gaile, Roxann, and Sandra,

After many years of dedicated service, he retired from Interlake Steel & Iron. Over the years, James became affectionately known as "Big Jim" by family, co-workers and friends. He loved to hunt, have vegetable gardens and yes oh yes listen to the blues!! B.B. King and Muddy Waters were his favorites.

As the eldest of siblings, James was a devoted brother and father figure while his father was away at work. James and his wife Alberta loved their grandchildren and great grandchildren like no others. James would not hesitate to babysit. Living the majority of his married life in the Hungarian neighborhood of Tony Packos, he made many friends in the community. Of those friends was Steve Hayden, the text book definition of a true friend.

James was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Alberta Traylor; parents, John and Quebell Traylor; brothers, Willie Curtis, Alvin, Gene, Earl, and Jessie Traylor; sister, Eula Mae Baker and Orene' Traylor; and son-in-law, Michael Holloway.

He leaves to cherish his wonderful and loving memories four daughters, Joyce Traylor, Gaile (Jay) Traylor Pierce, Roxann (Dwaine) Traylor Thames, Sandra (Vicki) Traylor; grandchildren, Amanda Holloway and Miranda (Brian) Ramsey, Brianna Traylor, Brian Traylor, and Jordan Dumas; great grandchildren, A'Darris Phillips Jr., Gavin Harmon, Daniel and Cameron Hyler-Traylor, Preston Hatch, Analyn and Kinsley Myers, Zayden Baumgartner, and Chloe Bailey; brothers, George (Pearl), Charles (Nell), and Leon (Linda) Traylor; sisters, Janie Louise Clanton and Ethel Johnson; sisters-in-law, Louvonia Smith, Vera Moye, Henrietta Friess, and Janis (Harold) Stevens; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dear Gail, Amanda and family, our thoughts, prayers and love to your family in the passing of Mr. Traylor. I'm so thankful that my family got to meet him and share laughs during Chloe's birthday party. He was truly a man who loved his family and who loved life. His legacy will live on in your beautiful family. May God bless you, keep you, and comfort you in the coming days. With sympathy and love, James and Angie Bailey and family
