KATHARINE MARIE LIGHTNER, affectionately known as "Kool-Aid", was born on August 28, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio. She was the oldest child of the late Wesley Sr. and Love Lee (Dawkins) Kyle.

As a child she attended St. Paul A.M.E. Zion Church where she was involved in the youth choir and recorded two albums. She graduated in 1976 from DeVilbiss High School. She met Joseph Lightner in 1979 and the two eloped in Holy Matrimony on August 5,1988. From this union they had four sons. She worked for Heartland Healthcare for many years. Katharine cherished her family and cared for many other children over the years. She loved to play Scrabble, travel, and read. Katharine had a great sense of humor and, as a result, she formed many friendships.

She is preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Joshua; and brother, Wesley Kyle, Jr.
