Obituary for Lawrence Preston Jones

Lawrence Preston Jones departed this life on October 6, 2019, after a long illness. He was born on November 16, 1944 to the late Ernest S. Jones and Alma A.R. Preston Jones. Lawrence was known to many as Stack A Dollars, Deacon Jones of Indiana Baptist Church and Larry.

He graduated from Simmons High School of Montgomery, WV. He later moved away to start a family of his own in Toledo, OH, where he resided until he departure from this world. Later in life, he married the love of his life, Francinia Baldwin-Jones, with whom he had two daughters, Leslie and Tawana.

Lawrence worked at the Local 500 Rudolph and Libby for 30 plus years until he retired. He was a 33 Degree Master Mason of the Gold Shield Lodge #78 for many years.

He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and friend. Lawrence loved life, Jesus, family, singing, fishing, all sports, music, cooking, dogs, helping others, building and making things, talking on the CB, Cadillacs, and he loved to travel, especially visiting back home in West Virginia.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his siblings, Ernest William Sr., Edward Dewayne, James Ray, Jerry Michael; granddaughter, Jordan K. Jones-Harris; and nephew, Ernest William Jr.

He leaves cherishing his memory and to mourn his home going, his wife Francinia Baldwin Jones, Toledo, OH; son, Keith Richmond, Charleston, WV; daughters, Wanda Brown-Jones, Memphis, TN, Leslie Baldwin Jones and Tawana Jones-Jett (Justin), both of Toledo, OH; siblings, Patricia Jones, Montgomery, WV, Sandra Jones-Cooper, Cannelton, WV, Anthony Jones, Cleveland, OH, Carl Jones (Rhonda), Dallas, TX, Shirley Jones-Wooding (David), Crosslanes, WV; and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandkids, and other loving family and kind friends.

The Jones family would like to thank each and everyone for whatever you may have done during such a time as this, phone call, text, visit, or email, we truly appreciate each and every one of you. May God continue to pour out his grace and mercy and love upon us all.
