Obituary for Lester Corggens

Lester Jerome Corggens was born on January 26, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio, to Florence Daily. He exchanged earthly life for eternal joy on September 17, 2019, at his home.

Lester attended Scott High School in Toledo, Ohio, where he participated in football, wrestling and track.

Lester accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at Third Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio.

Lester was an excellent provider and his work history spanned 60 years. He was a Master Electrician and founded his own company LC & Sons Electric. He also worked for several electrical contractors all over the Toledo Area. He was one of the first minorities to work out of IBEW Local 8. After 50 years of service, Lester retired from Mid West Terminal as a Longshoreman.

Lester was one of the pioneers that started the Mid City Football League, where he served as a coach, teacher and mentor to a countless number of youths throughout the city of Toledo. Lester had a positive impact on all who came in contact with him.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Daily and uncle, Cornelius Corggens.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Vanessa Corggens; sons, Steven "Bubby", Raymond "Ray Ray", Norman "Peanut", and Wayne (Chanelle); daughters, Kathleen "Kitten", Samantha (John) Walthall, and Dia McMillan; nephew, Alvin Love; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, godsons, Fred Coogler and Myron Coley, and a host of family and friends.
