Obituary for Lola Reed Kyle

Lola Reed Kyle transitioned peacefully September 5, 2019. She was born in Paducah, KY to Celestia Hines and Roosevelt Reed (both deceased). At the age of twelve she moved to Toledo, OH with her paternal grandmother, Maggie Reed and paternal uncle Pertha Reed (both deceased). She attended Gunckel Elementary School, graduated from Libbey High School and completed business courses at night school. She was employed at Lamson’s Department Store as a Sales Associate and retired from First Federal Savings and Loan Bank.

Lola loved people, especially children. After retirement, she volunteered at a Battered Women’s Shelter Daycare Center. Her relatives, relatives’ children, Hamilton Street children her daughter’s friends and their children were loved as if her own.

She was a 77-years member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church (City of Zion) joining under the religious teaching of Reverend Elijah Benton. Lola loved shopping for herself and for others. She also enjoyed watching basketball games on T.V. while on the telephone with her cousin Ernest. There was no favorite team, but she was great at predicting the season championship.

Lola was also preceded in death by four sisters, a brother and her dear aunt Mrs. Christine Reed. She is survived by her daughter Elaine Kyle, Toledo, OH, special niece Delores Hollowell, Milwaukee, WI, special cousin Ernest Reed, Toledo, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
