Obituary for Phillip Keith Carter

Phillip Keith Carter departed this life on September 9, 2019, at 9:30 p.m., at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born October 23, 1961, in River Falls, AL, to Cyrus and Fannie M. Carter.

Phillip graduated from Devilbiss High School in 1981. He then enlisted in the United States Army. serving five years and eight months. He graduated from Owens Community College with a degree in Culinary (Chef) Arts, graduating Cum Laude of his class in 2015. He confessed his life to Christ and he was a faithful member of St. Paul AME Zion Church until his passing, serving as the president of the Senior Usher Board. Phillip loved his family and friends unconditionally.

His last employment was at Northwest Developmental Center as a Therapic Program Worker. Phillip loved college football and basketball games. He took great pride in keeping his automobile nice and clean on a daily basis. He loved to dress and impress with his hats, shoes and clothes to match. He was a sharp dresser.

Phillip was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arrie and Eula Bell Hutcherson and Frank and Alma Carter; great niece, La Niyah Lashae Broughton; and step-father, Lloyd C. Cox.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his mother, Fannie M. Cox, of Toledo, OH; father, Cyrus (Rena) Carter, of River Falls, AL; sister, Phyllis Edwards, of Toledo, OH.; fiance, Jewyana Anderson; nephew, Jason Broughton; niece, Latoya Broughton; great-nephew, Jayson; and great-nieces, JaNaisha and RaNiyah Broughton; aunts, Myra Clinkscale, of Toledo, OH, Marie Pitts, of Toledo, OH, Mary Mathieu, of Inglewood, CA, Margaret (Vincent) Wilson, of Ranch Cucamonga, CA, Linda (Charles) Payne, of Toledo, OH, Sharon Hutcherson, Gussie Franklin, of Red Level, AL; two uncles, Willie Hutcherson, Terry Hutcherson, of Toledo, OH; and two dear friends, James Ham and Eric Hawthorne; and many cousins and kind friends, and two god-sisters, Donna Neely and Joyce Coleman.
