Obituary

James Everett Allen, Sr., son of Paul Lawrence and Margaret Jane Allen, was born March 13, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio. He departed this life November 1, 2019 at home at the age of 74.

On May 3, 1969 he was united in marriage to Bobbie Slaughter and to this union a son and two daughters were born. James was also preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers; Larry and Robert Allen.

James is survived by one son, James Allen, Jr. of Toledo, OH; 2 daughters, Sheneka Allen of Panama City Beach Florida; LaDawn Allen of Toledo, OH; twin grandsons, Jaxon and Jacob Guest-Allen of Toledo, OH. Four brothers; Paul Allen, Jr., of St. Louis, Missouri, John Allen (Wendy) of Kansas City, Kansas; Vernon Allen (Brenda) of Dallas, Texas and Benjamin (Chiquita) of Tupelo, Mississippi; 3 sisters; Beverly (Michael) Carter of Rowlett, Texas; Cheryl (Barron) Roney of McDonough, Georgia and Shirley Palm of Savage, Maryland, nephews, nieces, aunt and cousins and friends.

In April of 1969, James committed his life to the Lord in Huntsville, Alabama while serving in the military. James served his country for five years in the United States Army. While stationed on Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama he met and married Bobbie. After being discharged from the Army he and Bobbie made their home in Kansas City, Missouri. He became a faithful member of Faith Mission Church of God in Christ and played the lead guitar. He moved to Texas City, Texas in 1985, due to his job plant closing. He lived in Texas for thirteen years before leaving. James joined Victorious Living Ministry and was an active member while playing the guitar passionately. Due to another job offer, he moved his family to Toledo, OH in 1995 and worked for an oil company and retired in 2012 due to health problems. He became a committed member of Cornerstone Church of Toledo, OH in July 1995 until his death.

James will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, a caring person and neighbor. James was such a giving person. If he had and you needed it then he made it happen for you. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and came in contact with him.

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". Now and in the days ahead, may Jesus our God of comfort embrace you all with His loving arms as you remember James' life legacy & celebrate his homegoing to Heaven. He will not be forgotten in the hearts of all who knew him.
